3月2日發(fā)布的一份基于英國碳信托有限公司(Carbon Trust)以及帝國理工學(xué)院(Imperial College London)分析的報(bào)告顯示，如果英國電力系統(tǒng)市場規(guī)章允許利用儲(chǔ)能技術(shù)，那么直到2030年英國可以節(jié)省數(shù)十億美元。
如果這其中一半的“節(jié)省”傳遞給英國國內(nèi)的消費(fèi)者，那么他們平均每年電費(fèi)將下降50英鎊。
主要有三種儲(chǔ)能類型：批量、分布式以及迅速性。國際能源機(jī)構(gòu)(IEA)同時(shí)表示，儲(chǔ)能技術(shù)或許能夠幫助地球“實(shí)現(xiàn)一個(gè)低碳的未來”。

但是Lever補(bǔ)充道，存儲(chǔ)技術(shù)因未能巧妙地融入現(xiàn)有監(jiān)管框架，從而顛覆了傳統(tǒng)知識(shí)體系。目前的監(jiān)管框架一直圍繞“電力從大型集中式發(fā)電廠提供給消費(fèi)者”這一能源體系。
Lever繼續(xù)解釋道，目前儲(chǔ)能技術(shù)的未來舞臺(tái)非常廣闊，但是由于“過時(shí)的市場框架”令相關(guān)技術(shù)部署仍面臨挑戰(zhàn)。
